David Filgueiras Rama has a background in basic and clinical cardiac electrophysiology with expertise in research areas related to mechanisms underlying complex cardiac arrhythmia. His research experience started back in 2009 after completion of the clinical cardiology-training programme (2004-2009) at the Hospital Universitario La Paz (Madrid). Since then, David Filgueiras´ career has been driven by a passion to take clinical work beyond conventional diagnosis and develop new advanced diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for complex cardiac arrhythmias. David Filgueiras´ work is specially focused on new therapeutic alternatives and mapping technologies based on deep understanding of cardiac fibrillation phenomena. Throughout his research career, David Filgueiras has developed new technological tools and has turned them into new clinical methods taking advantage of a double appointment as Associate Health Scientist at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) (Madrid) and as faculty electrophysiologist at the Arrhythmia Unit of the Hospital Clínico San Carlos. This translational endeavor requires the combination of different experimental skills and a multidisciplinary team of scientists that David Filgueiras has implemented in the Advanced Development in Arrhythmia Mechanisms and Therapy (ADAM-T) laboratory at CNIC during the last 9 years. This scientific perspective has provided international scientific impact (https://www.cnic.es/en/investigacion/1/6546/publicaciones) and fruitful collaborations with other national and international investigators, yielding new clinical perspectives in cardiac mapping and treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmia as atrial fibrillation. Overall, David Filgueiras has published more than 80 manuscripts and more than 10 book chapters, with special focus on advanced mapping and comprehensive understanding of wave propagation dynamics during complex cardiac arrhythmia.
