Dr. Valentín Fuster will be teaching the summer seminar series “Molecular, Clinical & Population Bases of Cardiovascular Disease and Health”, organized by the  International University Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

For the third year running, the town of Cardona near Barcelona is hosting the summer seminar series “Molecular, Clinical & Population Bases of Cardiovascular Disease and Health”, given by the Dr Valentín Fuster, Director of the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) and the Cardiovascular Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. The 2019 event will take place on 15 and 16 July and is supported by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

 The comprehensive program, presented in its entirety by Dr Fuster, delves and dissects key aspects of cardiovascular health and disease from the last year. Topics covered include new frontiers in imaging and genetic techniques; modification of behaviour in the third age, middle age, and in children; the historical development of statin therapy; quality of life and stroke prevention; the rapidly advancing technological and clinical applications of genetics and omics; and techniques for myocardial tissue regeneration, including pluripotent stem cells.

The course is aimed at cardiology fellows and residents with a clear motivation for research and keen to learn about the latest scientific advances. Since its inception, the course has been one of the most highly rated in the Universidad Internacional Menéndez y Pelayo (UIMP) summer program

 The seminar series is enjoys the support of the American College of Cardiology, the CNIC, and the Spanish Cardiovascular Disease Research Network (Centro de Investigación en Red en Enfermedades Cardiovasculares; CIBERCV) and is accredited by the Spanish Society of Cardiology (SEC).

 The town of Cardona is once again hosting the course, in keeping with its commitment to placing health at the center of community life through the Cardona Integral initiative.

The summer course is being held for the third successive year in Cardona (Barcelona), home of the Cardona Integral project, an initiative committed to placing health at the center of community
