The results of the SECURE trial, coordinated by CNIC were presented in a Hot Line session at the European Society of Cardiology meeting (ESC 2022) in Barcelona and published at the NEJM

Participants who followed the TANSNIP-PESA program (orange line) showed an improvement in lifestyle measures and cardiovascular health compared with participants in the control group (who did not participate in the intervention; blue line). The Y-axis shows changes in the Fuster -BEWAT lifestyle and cardiovascular risk score with respect to the baseline value.

The project will examine long-term changes in plasma biomarkers of neuronal injury, neuroinflammation, and Alzheimer's disease in participants in the PESA-CNIC-SANTANDER study who have undergone imaging studies to map brain metabolism. The 3D atlas has allowed the scientists to identify the beginning of left–right asymmetry in the heart

. 3D model of a femoral artery obtained by real 3D imaging, revealing the location, number, and extent of distinct atherosclerotic plaques. In this sample, three plaques can be discerned (arrows), at the femoral bifurcation and distributed along the superficial branch.
